A rainy day

Now comes the rain down, softly rustling,
and lashes wet the windows of each house in street and alley.
With wetting swipes the walls are dripping.
It makes the road-sides slippery.Splashed with mire from head to foot,
people drag on muddy paths;
and When a carriage has to pass,
they meet with children, shoed with clogs and boots.
Now it’s impossible to step aside;
A boy kicks in a dirty pool mischievously.
The water splashes high up, far about.
And so a passing man just gets the broadside
of filthy water into eyes and mouth.
The boy asks: “Was it nice?”, provokingly.
